Wrentham Day Slated for Saturday

Town celebration enters its 30th year.

The town will be celebrating this Saturday, marking the 30th year the fair has been held.

The event will take place on the from 9am to 4pm.

Jeff Plympton, the town's recreation director, said thousands of people typically attend.

"Pretty much the whole town shows up," he said.

Wrentham Day, Plympton said, offers a wide variety of food, goods and activities.

"We normally have about 70 booths where a number of different things go on," he said. "Several departments in town, like the historical commission and police and fire departments have booths."

Plympton said the town's Lions Club will be serving banana splits, and youth baseball would be serving up sausages, hot dogs and hamburgers.

The town Cultural Council and Historical Commission will , looking into the history of Wrentham through pictures, maps and artifacts.

The day will also feature the Wrentham Wroad Wrace at 10am. The race, a 5K jaunt up and down Taunton Street, generally sees better attendance in sunny weather.

"We always get about 100 to 125 runners," he said.

A band — the Infractions — will play from 11am to 2pm.

"It's a great time," Plympton said of the day. "People mingle around and look at what's available."
