Holiday Season Kicks Off with Christmas Tree Lighting at Patriot Place

The holiday season kicked off in Foxborough with a tree lighting and roaming carolers.

The Giving Tree benefiting Patriot Place’s charitable partner Cradles to Crayons, shone a bit brighter this past Saturday as members of the UnCommon Theater and Bay Colony Productions came together to get the Foxborough community into the spirit of the season.

Prior to the tree-lighting, Uncommon Theater and Bay Colony Productions members serenaded onlookers and shoppers with Christmas Carols and holiday songs.  Their combined voices were as wonderful as a symphony as onlookers in the crisp evening air enjoyed their serenade, some in the audience even singing along as the performers continued to sing as the tree lit up. Visitors to Patriot Place were invited to take an ornament from the Giving Tree and purchase the assigned gift to fulfill a child’s wish.

The Uncommon Theater founded in 1980, is dedicated to producing quality productions performed by aspiring young actors, singers and musicians and supported by aspiring young technicians. Their vision is to develop the life skills of youth through the professional theatrical experience.  The company is one of the few children's theatre companies in New England that provides an opportunity to work under the guidance of theatre professionals and perform in professional theater houses, while building self-esteem, teamwork and confidence in youngsters. Bay Colony Productions was founded in 1999 as a local community theatre organization dedicated to promoting the performing arts in the area through both high quality performances and devoted educational programs.
