After months of cold and snow and being stuck indoors, aren't you ready get up and going? Here are some perfect picks to get moving!

After months of cold and snow and being stuck indoors, aren’t you ready get up and going? Here are some perfect picks to get moving!

  • Active toddlers need time to move and groove, making Fiske Library a great destination every Friday at 10:30 a.m.  For parents, this is a perfect way to meet others while the kids have a chance to experience the new gym equipment purchased with funds from the Friends of Fiske. No registration is required.  Playgroup is held in the SWEATT Meeting Room. If you arrive before 10 a.m. just ring the doorbell.
  • An outdoor activity that could provide some giggles, especially if you’re one of those who have to grip the rail for dear life, Patriot Place continues its outdoor winter skate.  The 60-by-140-foot, refrigerated ice surface is designed specifically for recreational skating, and features an observation deck for non-skaters.  Rent a pair of skates for $4. Admission for adults is $7 and children 12 and under are $5. After skating, present your Winter Skate wristband to receive an exclusive discount at CBS Scene, The Hall, the Patriots ProShop, Trophy Town, Espionage, Reebok and Eastern Mountain Sports.  The rink is open this weekend from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Did you know Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI is open all year long?  You can explore the 'wild' winter wonderland for half price in February from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. After checking out some of the outdoor exhibits, warm up at some of heated exhibit buildings, including the Textron Elephant & Giraffe Pavilion, the Tropical America building (a great rainforest retreat on a gray winter day!), and the Australasia building.
  • Want a good family challenge? Head to Rock Spot Climbing in Lincoln, RI, where every Sunday between 4 and 7 p.m.,  immediate family members who climb together get discounted rates of $15 (includes gear and a lesson) or $10 (without gear).  Rock Spot Climbing is a state-of-the-art facility that has tons of options for getting started climbing, with over 9000 sq. foot of textured wall and 35+ rope climbing stations!
  • Hear some great tunes and dance in your seats in the Stadium Theatre's production of Annie! An orphan, Annie, and her dog Sandy are placed in the lap of luxury for a week as a part of a publicity campain for Oliver Warbucks. However, Annie's stay turns out to be much more than anyone had bargained for as she works her way into everyone's hearts and learns a few things for herself. Playing now through Feb. 27. Check out dates and times. I know I'll be singing, "The sun will come out tomorrow!" all the way home.
