Raccoon with Rabies Symptoms Found in Norfolk

Pets or people who may have made contact with the animal are asked to call Animal Control.

Norfolk Massachusetts Animal Control and Shelter have announced that a raccoon was found with rabies symptoms.

The shelter sent an alert out to Norfolk and Wrentham residents Saturday afternoon stating that the raccoon was found at approximately 5 p.m. at the intersection of Spruce Road, Mirror Lake Avenue and Forest Grove in Norfolk. The animal was showing neurological symptoms of rabies and was euthanized.

The raccoon will be sent in for rabies testing on Monday.

“If you think any pets or people may have been exposed to this animal please contact my office at 508-440 2816,” said Animal Control officer Hilary Cohen.
