Famous People? In Wrentham?

A look at some of the personalities that have come to live and work in Wrentham.

Wrentham has some long history, but did you know it also has been home to some major people?

Probably the most famous was Helen Keller, who shared a home here in 1896 with Anne Sullivan. In the summers of 1898-1903, they lived in a cottage Sullivan rented on Lake Pearl. In 1903, they moved to 349 East St., where Keller lived until 1917.

Educator Horace Mann, made famous by many streets and plazas in Franklin, studied law in Wrentham. Mann was an educator, congressman and the first secretary of the newly created Massachusetts Board of Education, the first such position in the U.S.

Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane once lived here as well, and actor Mark Wahlberg still currently owns a summer home here, according to IMDB.com.

The late former New England Patriots player Mosi Tatupu lived in Plainville and coached football at the King Philip Regional High School, while his son, Lofu, graduated from KP, going to be a collegiate standout at the University of Southern California and in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wrentham has been a home to the New England Patriots over the years. Current Pats kicker Stephen Gostkowski also has lived here.

New England Patriot radio announcer and 98.5 host Scott Zolak, a former NFL quarterback, lives in town, as well as, NESN announcer and WEEI host Dale Arnold. During his long career in Boston, Arnold has broadcast Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, New England Revolution, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox games.

Probably the most famous residents nationally, is former United States Senator Scott Brown and his family, including his daughter, Alya, who was on American Idol, and recently a new CD with a tribute to the town. Scott Brown is also a host on FOX-News.
