Downtown Plainville Block Party Saturday

By Michele Taranto

Local Plainville merchants are hosting the first Annual Summer Block Party, on Saturday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This free family-fun event will have something for all ages! Over 30 businesses will be on hand to greet the public, showcase their services and conduct demonstrations. There will also be live entertainment, dance performances, a pie eating contest, children's activities, such as a dunk tank, and yes, lots of food!

“We feel the Block Party is a great way to promote local businesses and get the community involved in a little summertime fun,” chairperson Janine MacArthur said. “We’re very excited to meet many old and new friends. I’m especially looking forward to the dunk tank.”
