Beat the Heat at Sweatt Beach

By Michele Taranto
If you are a Wrentham, Norfolk or Plainville resident, why waste all that time and effort loading up the car and traveling in traffic, only to struggle finding a parking space for some quality beach time? There are still a few weeks left to enjoy the warm weather, so why not relax by the water just minutes away.
Sweatt Beach, on Lake Pearl in Wrentham is the ideal location for swimming and recreation. This local gem has even undergone several renovations over the last few years, thanks in part to some ambitious Eagle Scout projects with money from the Sweatt Fund for new fencing.
For residents who didn't purchase a seasonal pass, very reasonable daily rates are still available for only $4 for adults and $3 for children.
When the kids need a break from the water, visit the Sweatt Playground or Sweatt Field Complex, the home of Wrentham Youth Baseball. Better yet, most of the stores have their summer inventory on sale (and no sale tax this weekend), so pick up a volleyball/badminton net, croquet or any beach game and let the entire clan join in the fun!
Pack a lunch, bring along some recreational games, books or e-readers and the entire family can enjoy a beautiful summer day. The best part, after an exciting day, when everyone is tired, the last thing a carload of weary beachgoers looks forward to a long ride home. The highlight of the day will be the easy compute!
