Donors Needed: Adopt a family this holiday season

Each year Woonsocket Adopt-A-Family matches families in need from Woonsocket to generous donors willing to anonymously “adopt” a child’s wish list for the holiday season.  So far this holiday season we have matched 910 families with donors.  Due to the tough economy, the number of recipients has increased this year. We still have approximately 300 kids in 125 families waiting for donors.  

Donors provide a complete Christmas to a child, not a supplement.  Using the wish list as a guide, donors shop for and wrap 3-4 clothing items, 2-3 toys and a stuffed stocking for each child. With savvy shopping, we estimate each child’s adoption to cost about $150.   Many of our donors share the Christmas spirit with a group by pooling resources and adopting together.   

We are looking for donors to adopt one or more children so we can fulfill the wish lists of the remaining 300 children.  Gifts will need to be dropped off at the Elk's Lodge in Woonsocket the week of December 8-14 in order to be distributed in time for Christmas, so please don't wait!
