I object to Chairman [Joseph] Botaish’s outrageous attack on Wrentham’s Assistant Superintendent of Public Works, Jack Manchester, at the December 6, 2011 Selectmen’s meeting.   What transpired therein is beyond the pale. See: http://12071945.com/wcac/wcac_vod_show_search.php To summarize, as of 12/6/2011, Wrentham’s Superintendent of DPW, Irving Priest, had been ill and unable to work for some four or five weeks. During this period, Assistant Superintendent, Jack Manchester, had been performing Mr. Priest’s work as well as his own. In fact, Mr. Manchester continues to do so though to a …
You can imagine the surprise some residents had this week when the American Waste trucks were heard rumbling down the streets of Wrentham on the regularly scheduled pickup day this week. With the federal Christmas holiday being Monday, December 26, most everyone expected a day delay on trash pickup. But that was not the case, and the lack of communication from the town of Wrentham on the issue has many residents stuck with an extra week's worth of trash. And that could be a significant amount, considering many hosted holiday parties or meals over the weekend. The dilemma is now forcing …
Letter to the Editor: I first started doing business in Foxborough more than 25 years ago. Since then, my family and I have tried to build and create businesses that add value and enhance the Town. In addition to our business activities, I have strived to be a charitable member of the community and have built lasting friendships. My family and I have very much enjoyed our relationship with the Town. If nothing else, I hope that my 25-year history here has established a strong track record of doing what we’ve said we would do. Regarding the proposal for a “casino” in Foxborough, I can …

Dear Wrentham Neighbors,The process of finalizing the Town of Wrentham operating budget for FY 2012 isnearing completion. The only thing left to do is for our voters to review and discuss the Finance Committee’s recommendations and take the vote at Town Meeting on Monday, June 13. Town Meeting will be in the KP High School auditorium starting at 7:30pm. Aschair of the Finance Committee, I had hoped to get this final information article out a couple of days ago via our usual collaborative committee effort, but an out of town business requirement upset those plans. Even so, there are a couple …
Wrentham Patch received the following letter from the Wrentham Elementary School Trust (WEST): Recently, fourth grade students at the Roderick School got a first hand introduction to the field of meteorology by a veteran New England forecaster. Barry Burbank, meteorologist with Boston’s WBZ-TV, visited Wrentham students to discuss weather phenomena and formulating weather predictions, quizzed the students on US geography, and fielded questions from the eager students.   Mr. Burbank also shared a movie created by the entire meteorology team at Channel 4, which humorously addressed a day in the…

This is the third in a series of articles written by the Wrentham Finance Committee regarding the development of the Fiscal Year 2012 Wrentham Operating Budget. The Debt Exclusion vote scheduled for June 4 has generated a lot of increased attention and questions in the past week. While the questions have a fairly broad range, the fulcrum seems to be “What’s the impact if the vote passes or doesn’t pass?” This third article will answer that question, and we will seek to answer as many of the others as possible in this space. Before we address the impacts, a short update is necessary in order …
Wrentham Patch has received the following letters regarding the problems at the King Philip High School wastewater treatment plant. ----------------------------------------------------- This letter addresses concerns the citizens of Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham may have about the pending septic system project at the King Philip Regional High School. The waste water treatment plant at the high school was built in 1974. For the renovation that occurred during the last project completed in 2007, discussions took place between the designer/engineer of the project, the agent for the Wrentham …
This is the second in a series of articles written by the Wrentham Finance Committee regarding the development of the Fiscal Year 2012 Wrentham Operating Budget.  INTRODUCTION In our first article, we introduced many of the Town’s challenges in regards to developing the Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 operating budget for Wrentham.  In response to those challenges, one of the options discussed was the transfer of some of our long term debt via a mechanism known as debt exclusion. On April 19, the Board of Selectmen voted to exercise this option by authorizing a debt exclusion special election.  This …
This is the first in a series of articles written by the Wrentham Finance Committee.  It provides information regarding the budget process towards the development of the Fiscal Year 2012 Wrentham Operating Budget.INTRODUCTIONBudget season always presents two great challenges.  The first challenge is to find the equilibrium between what services the citizens want and what we can afford.  The second challenge is to provide the communication necessary regarding the budget process so that citizens can make an informed decision when voting on the budget. This year, our budget process has a few more…
