Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, died on Jan. 9, according to his website. “Rex Trailer left this earth peacefully last night surrounded in love and song by his family. Rex had been in Florida for the holidays when he became ill into the New Year. While everyone’s prayers and support have been of great comfort to Rex, he decided it was time to go home. Rex and family thank all of you and love you,” a statement on his website reads. Trailer hosted “Boomtown” a children’s show with a western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974, according to WBZ-TV. Bon Jovi will take the stage in Foxborough one week before Taylor Swift's two shows at Gillette Stadium and just over one month before Kenny Chesney's annual two-day New England Country Music Festival. Country music star Kenny Chesney is returning to Foxborough for two nights in 2013, annoucing he will add a second show in August at Gillette Stadium as part of his "No Shoes Nation" tour. Chesney, along with several other country music stars, will be in Foxborough on Aug. 23-24, 2013 for the 10th annual New England Country Music Festival, better known as "Country Fest." Gillette Stadium announced Chesney added the additional show in Foxborough due to overwhelming demand for his Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 concert. On Sunday, November 11, the King Philip Marching Band ended their 2012 competitive season as US Bands Division 4 Open National Champions at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The 87 member strong band brought down the house withtheir show "The Other Side". With a score of 97.075, the Pride & the Passion also won captions for Best Music, Best Percussion and Best Effect. The band also won the US Bands Division 4 New England States competition in Bridgeport, CT on November 3 winning all captions. The KP band is comprised of Wrentham, Norfolk and Plainville students in grades 8 thru 12. On Thursday, November 29th, 2012, Cowboy Spirit Films will be hosting the premiere of the feature film, Cowboy Spirit which will include a meet and greet with the starring cast. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro, Massachusetts. National Amusement Inc. has informed Patriot Place it will no longer book musical acts at Showcase Live in Foxborough beginning in 2013.
Showcase Live, a 16,000-square-foot entertainment venue at Patriot Place in Foxborough is stopping the music in 2013 to focus on booking special events and private parties, according to its operating company, National Amusements Inc. “We are currently evaluating our live music programming,” National Amusements said in a statement to Foxborough Patch Tuesday morning. “We will continue to operate Showcase Live, hosting special events and corporate meetings at the venue.
