Wrentham Spared of Senior Citizen Scams
Despite reports of scams aimed at senior citizens in Norwood, there have been no recent reports of scams in Wrentham.
As surrounding towns have fallen victim to scams aimed at senior citizens, towns like Wrentham can rest knowing that the town hasn't had a major issue with scams
Recently in Norwood, two scams have been reported that have targeted the elderly.
In a statement from the Norwood Police, the first scam is a telephone call where the scammer pretends to be a family member or an associate of a family member of the person. They say that the money is needed because of some sort of trouble. The caller then directs the person on the other end how to give them the money or to wire the money.
In the second scam, a person claims to be a utility worker in person. While the resident of the home is distracted, a second person goes through the house looking for valuables to steal.
In recent history, Wrentham Police haven't had any reported scams but that’s not to say there hasn’t been any before.
“A while back, we had a couple of identity theft scams about seven to eight months ago, but nothing recently,” police chief James Anderson said.
As always, anyone who witnesses or knows of any activity of this sorts is asked to report it to the Wrentham Police.
