Wrentham's Sweatt Beach To Open June 10

The local beach on Lake Pearl will be open to residents starting Sunday.

Sunday, June 10, Sweatt Beach will be open for the summer. The recreation area located on Lake Pearl will be open from noon-7 p.m.  through June 18 before going to longer hours on June 19. The beach will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from June 19 to Aug. 18.

“We’ve been working hard. There’s a lot of new things going on out there,”  Wrentham recreation director Jeff Plympton said.

Changes include expanding the beach line from 100 feet to 200 feet, new landscaping, and the removal of the rarely used barbecue area.

“The beach has been there for over 60 years, at some point you have to put some money into it and renovate it,” Plympton said.

In addition, efforts to prune trees on Woolford Road now allows beach goers to see the lake as the drive up to the beach.

With birthday and graduation parties already planned on the beach, it is expected to be another busy season for the beach.

Passes can be purchased at the beach for $125 for Wrentham residents and $150 for non-residents. Daily passes will be available for $4 for adults and $3 for children.
