“These events provide a valuable opportunity to access important information and to facilitate the often complicated process of applying for financial aid,” said Senator Ross. “Financial aid options give those students in need the chance to achieve their educational goals. I encourage all interested constituents to take advantage of these useful events.”

The FAFSA is a form that all students who wish to apply for federal financial aid are required to complete. A student who plans on attending college during the 2013-2014 academic year must submit the 2013-2014 FAFSA to receive federal and state financial aid. Financial aid might include grants, scholarships, loans and Federal Work-Study.

It is important to note that filling out the FAFSA does not create an obligation to attend or decide on a college to attend. These free events offer help completing the FAFSA and information on the full financial aid process. In addition, FAFSA experts and financial aid administrators will be on site to answer questions and provide more information.

There will be opportunities to file the FAFSA online at many locations. Students and parents attending a FAFSA Day event should bring the following items: FAFSA pin (accessible at www.pin.ed.gov); Social Security number; Driver’s License number; most recent federal tax return; most recent W-2 or year-end pay stub; untaxed income records; bank statements; business and investment records; and Alien Registration card (if not a U.S. Citizen). FAFSA Day events will be held in 25 locations throughout the Commonwealth.

On Jan. 27 at 1 p.m., FAFSA Day events will take place at: Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton, Framingham High School, Bristol Community College in Fall River and Dean College in Franklin, among a variety of other locations.

An event will also be held at Marlborough High School Jan. 24, at 6:30 pm. To register online and access additional information, including other locations, please visit www.FAFSADay.org.
