Belmont was a republican town that held its head high during elections in the 1960s and 1970s. It's only shame was being the home of the John Birch Society. I wonder how the town leaders of old feel when they look at the tea party and realize it is no different from the group that once shamed them.

Guilt by association fallacy - from Wikipedia

An association fallacy is an inductive informal fallacy of the type hasty generalization or red herring which asserts that qualities of one thing are inherently qualities of another, merely by an irrelevant association. The two types are sometimes referred to as guilt by association and honor by association. Association fallacies are a special case of red herring, and can be based on an appeal to emotion

I grew up in Belmont. It has morphed from a conservative to a liberal town, and it hasn't helped the town. Comparing the Tea Party to the John Birch Society just shows how misinformed people are.

Obama is the president who has curbed government spending more than any other president since Eisenhower. Read the article attached to enlighten yourself.....remember, Republicans are looking to give your money to already rich politicians and millionaires that don't give a hoot about the average Joe. Interestingly enough, most of the millionaires/celebrities who give continuously to charities and in times of disaster are standing behind Obama...(Bruce Springstein, Jon Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Sheryl Crow, Lady Gaga, Alec Baldwin, Neil Diamond, Dave Matthews, etc...). So, read the article, and enlighten yourself...

Consider the source. Ungar "writing from the left"...it is as wrong as your belief in who is charitable - it is Republlicans - just look it up. There hasn't been an administration in recent history that has doled out taxpayer money to more useless and failing enterprises or to their buddies than the obama administration. Just follow the money in the almost trillion dollars wasted in the so-called stimulus. Liberals are wonderful at telling others how to live while keeping tight rein on their own luxury. I would like to see the evidence for your claim that "most of the millionaires" who give to charities are behind obama.

I see no shame wrought by the Tea Party as a whole. The only shame is the fact that narrow minded bigots like you can't understand that every group has its zealots. One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bushel!

The more I know of Romney, the more I like him.

The more I see and hear from Obama, the more I dislike him INTENSELY.

Nothing personal on either one of them. I started out saying, "I'll hold my nose and vote for Romney"....but Obama is just so over the top DESTRUCTIVE that now I love, love, love Romney!

Funny you should say that since the same thing happened to me. I didn't vote for Obama in 2008 and knew I wouldn't vote for him 2012. So, in effect, I would vote for anyone who wasn't Obama. In steps Mitt Romney. A little hard to take but he wasn't Obama. The first debate changed everything. Romney was funny, smart, ran circles around the President. As I continued to follow him and his family, I grew to like him more and more. What a wonderful leader he will make. And I think this spontaneous happening (epiphany?) occured simultaneously all over the country.

Romney/Ryan 2012 indeed !!!

Very Telling! He's been touting his success as the great Governor of the State of Massachusetts. Let's see if the voters in Massachusetts agree. If the Mass. polls are an indication of the Mitt greatness, then his distortions are as big as his boast.

Massachusetts will give its 11 electoral votes to the Democrat, any Democrat. Doesn't matter what Romney did or did not do in Massachusetts... it's a moot point.

That one could possible compare the John Birch Society with the tea party movement shows how little understanding the writer here has of either group. Birchers were trying to rout out Commies that they saw lurking on every corner and in every closet as part of a plot to overthrow the U.S. government.. Tea party people don't touch that kind of paranoia. They just want government to rein in excesses so that we don't become Greece. I'd guess that Tori McCuen see bigger debt ridden government as a solution to the debt and job crises. I'm not a tea party supporter but I am more in line with their solutions than not and they , for sure, don't suspect that McCuen and friends are out to overthrow our government

It disgusts me just to see him. I do not understand how anyone could vote for a crook like Romney it just makes no sense. He lies about everything and people act like they don't know all the dirt on him. He has stole from Medicare just like Rick Scott he has lied to the American people and he has so many off shore and CHURCH tax sheltors its sickening.

I find it disgusting we would watch him vote like a prince or a king as he and his party would take that very right away and suppress the vote in Ohio, Florida and other states because he cant win fairly on the issues, the facts or the truth. And by the way, wheres his taxes? And somone would vote for him as one of his business is offshoring American jobs...Sensata.

Josh, I believe that was the decision of the local election official to not allow audio recording. It is not banned explicitly by state law, instead each election official is given great latitude in what they allow for photos, audio and video recording in the polling place. There has been no issue with it in other polling places in Massachusetts.

How is that odd? Most states prohibit audio recording without second party consent. Besides, audio recording can be seen as a form of intimidation. More importantly, why on earth would you find it necessary to record anything in a plooing station?

Mass. is a two party consent state, so anyone whose voice would be recorded would have to consent to it. That is state law under all circumstances under the wiretapping statute.
