Paws of Plainville Pett of the Week: Beatrice
After extensive medial attention, the Paws of Plainville need a home for Beatrice.
Remember Aunt Bee? She was as sweet as honey and always there to
offer comfort and a loving gesture. Well picture those qualities in a
feline and you have our Beatrice. Bee hasn’t been with us very long
and she has had quite a rough start at the shelter but with some
medical attention and loving care she is recuperating nicely. Beatrice
was found living under a porch, the nice woman who found her tried
really hard to find her owners but had no success in locating them.
Bee was in rough shape and her odor reflected that so the woman gave
her some TLC and then gave us a call to come help her out. When Bee
first came to us she was very shaky, she had some bad teeth and was
treated for an ear infection. Upon further inspection other medical
problems were noticed and she was sent to see a specialist.
It was then discovered that Beatrice had a polyp in her ear that was
causing the ear infection and the polyp was so extensive that it was
preventing the antibiotics from reaching the infection. The polyp
needed to be removed as it was extremely painful to her and was still
growing. It was a little concerning having Bee put under for surgery
due to her physical condition and age (she is estimated to be 13-14
years old) but she pulled through like the trooper that she is. While
she was in surgery they also removed five bad teeth as well. Her blood
work also showed that she has a moderate kidney disease. It is hoped
that with the removal of the bad teeth and switching her to the
appropriate diet will correct the problem before it worsens.
Through all of this Bee has remained the sweetest, most gentle
creature you can imagine. She is currently in foster care and her
recovery is going very well. It is hoped that sometime in the near
future she will be healthy enough to be adopted into a new loving
home.
Bee’s medical bills have been quite costly for a small shelter like
ours so we are appealing to you for help. If you would like to make a
donation to help towards her recovery please send it to us at Paws of
Plainville, P.O. Box 2236, Plainville, MA 02762 (please put Beatrice
Fund in the memo section of your check) or stop by the shelter at 200
South Street during our normal visiting hours which can be found on
our website at www.pawsofplainville.org. All donations are tax
deductible.
