Wednesday, two local acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) survivors, Jesi Watson (14, Lexington, MA) and Ashley Emerson Gilbert (27, Worcester, MA) will meet the players of the New England Revolution during a practice session at Gillette Stadium as part of the year-long partnership between the Revs and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Massachusetts Chapter.
Along with meeting the team, the two survivors will promote the year-long partnership which officially kicks off this Saturday, June 16, when the Revs host LLS Night at Gillette stadium when the team faces the Columbus Crew.
The community can support LLS’ mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families by purchasing a special promotional ticket at revolutionsoccer.net/LLSNight or by calling (508) 384-9266. The Revolution will donate $10 to LLS from every ticket purchased through the special website or phone number for the one-night-only promotion.
Jesi Watson has been with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since she was diagnosed in 2010. As passionate soccer fan and player, her friends, family and soccer team formed "Team Jesi" to fundraise for the LLS Light The Night Walk in Wakefield, every September.
Ashley Emerson Gilbert is the 2012 Honored Hero for the Light The Night Walk in Worcester on Sunday, Oct.14. She braved three years of chemotherapy treatments while completing a full-time college course schedule. Now, Gilbert is the Director at Seven Hills Global Outreach.
