The seventh grade girls' basketball team from Mercymount Country Day School in Cumberland, RI won the Catholic Athletic League Girls' Grammar Division 1 state championship title Saturday, March 9, beating the No. 1 seed team, St. Rocco's of Johnston, RI.
These girls were the only all seventh-grade team in Division 1 and played eightth grade teams for the entire season. They will advance to the New England CYO Basketball Tournament in Boston onApril 5-7.
