The King Philip Regional High School varsity softball team rode a seven-run fifth inning to a 14-1 victory over host Sharon at the Ames Street Fields today.
The Warriors (4-1) were led by Tori Constantin, who had an RBI single, two solo home runs and a bases-clearing triple. Cayleigh McCarthy added a solo homer, and Renee Poirier hit a grand slam. The game was called after six innings per the run ahead rule.
Sharon scored its run in the third inning. Tsitsi Moyo led off with a line drive single to left, and took second on Dani Fine's sacrifice bunt to third. Elaina Cho's double to right scored Moyo, and cut King Philip's lead to 2-1.
King Philip pitcher Anna O'Neill allowed three hits and one walk, and recorded 10 strikeouts.
King Philip plays at Shrewsbury at 3pm Thursday.
Sharon (2-3) hosts Wellesley at noon Friday.
