About 200 Kids Still Need "Gifts For Kids" Sponsors

The drive ends next week.

One week before wrapping up, the "Gifts for Kids" drive still seeks sponsors for about 200 children, volunteer Janet Bean said today.

Organizers received requests for sponsors for nearly 950 children identified by human services providers in South Norfolk County.

"The hardest ones are the teenagers. So gift cards are great. People can still do cash donations, since we have volunteer shoppers lined up," Bean said.

This year, gifts may be dropped off from 4pm to 6pm next Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the VFW on Robbins Road in Walpole, and at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Sharon on next Thursday, Dec. 15.

Interested sponsors may e-mail or call one of the following individuals between 9am and 9pm: Abigail Marsters at abigailmarsters@comcast.net or (781) 784-4372; Teri Gorsky at luckygorsk@aol.com or (781) 784-1441; or Karen Gordon at kwgordon@gmail.com or (781) 784-7616.

Information about a child, and packaging instructions, will be provided.

Monetary donations are accepted, too. Checks should be made payable to Gifts for Kids and send to Gifts for Kids Inc., P.O. Box 464, Sharon, MA, 02067. Gifts for Kids is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

The drive, which has run for more than 20 years, helped more than 900 children last year. This year's drive began Nov. 18.
