TOE JAM PUPPET BAND CONCERT: Wed. Aug. 24 – 10:30AM – Ages 0-10 - Formed in 2000, the Toe Jam Puppet Band offers a special brand of hands-on children's entertainment that grown-ups can actually enjoy. The Dynamic group is great with kids, but best when teachers or parents are having fun with the little ones. The performances are very active, encouraging kids and parents to sing and dance along with the band as they entertain with a unique combination of original songs, masterful shadow puppetry, storytelling and just plain old good fun. Tom Poitras is the plaid-suited songwriter and singer of the Toe Jam Puppet Band. He plays banjo, acoustic guitar and washboard tie. Every live show needs a live wire and for the Toe Jam Puppet Band it’s Mr. Vinny Lovegrove. Acting as emcee and resident silly man he can always be found right in the thick of it with the Kiddos. At each Toe Jam performance he directs the fun and activities with a big bag of puppet shows, storytelling, amateur acrobatics, improvisation, and well-timed shtick. Program is free but canned-good donations will be gratefully accepted for the Wrentham Food Pantry.
Tickets are now available at the circulation desk.
“This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wrentham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.”“Thank you for an exuberant, fun-filled, nonstop action program. You really got the place rocking!” – Nancy Denman, Head of Children’s Services, Duxbury Free Library, Duxbury, MA.“I cannot thank you enough for your performance at our library. I have booked a lot of performers, some good, some not so good, and some who, at the time, I considered to be great. But the Toe Jam Puppet Band just blew them all out of the water! You were extremely professional, and it was obvious that you put enormous effort into the planning of your shows. Most importantly, you knew how to capture and hold the attention of a roomful of kids! The screams of laughter and delight could be heard even with the doors shut!” – Tressy N. Collier, Children’s Librarian/Assistant Director, Blackstone Public Library, Blackstone, MA.
